How many can visit it?

Machu Picchu, has a new admission capacity: limited to 30% which is equivalent to 675 people per day; in compliance with biosafety measures and protocols. The site is used to receiving 2,500 tourists a day, although it recently passed regulations limiting 1,825 visitors per day to protect tourists and the spread of COVID-19.

Security measures

Before entering, visitors will have their temperature taken and asked to wear masks and be separated by at least 2 meters. Groups, including a guide, cannot be more than eight people and children under 12 are not allowed. To avoid crowds, visitors will travel in four circuits.

The only option to get to the town of Aguas Calientes is by TRAIN, national tourists (Peru) can no longer board the local train.

To go up from the town of Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu, the only way is by BUS. Before visitors could walk up, this environment is restricted by BIOSECURITY measures.
