Santa Rosa de Quives

Santa Rosa de Quives is located at kilometer 64 of Canta. It is a town with a beautiful landscape, which is recognized by the parishioners who come to visit the stone hermitage where Santa Rosa de Lima lived. Its surroundings are excellent for horseback riding and trekking.

– January 16 is the anniversary of the district. Also on August 30 many parishioners come to visit the hermitage of Santa Rosa.

– The horse ride is around 15 soles.

Checta Petroglyphs

Los Petroglifos de Checta, is located 60 kilometers on the way to Canta, in Santa Rosa de Quives. It is really surprising, there are 450 figures engraved in stone with motifs of animals, plants, anthropomorphic, abstract and geometric images, many of them have an approximate age 1500.


Obrajillo is the town of walkers and lovers of the outdoors. It is located 3 kilometers from the city of Canta. Many visitors called it the paradise of campers. Its main attractions are its small waterfalls, the small hydroelectric, the trout farm, horseback riding and from Obrajillo you can reach the Cordillera la Viuda.

Cantamarca Archaeological Complex

Cantamarca is 10 km away. northeast of the city of Canta. The pre-Inca stone citadel is at the top of a mountain, at 3,500 meters above sea level. In the past it was inhabited by the ethnic group of Atavillos (1100 AD). You can climb on foot, the walk lasts about 3 or 4 hours, depending on the physical state of the walker.

When climbing the steep peak, we find an architecture, characterized by circular stone enclosures, with a central column, as a base. There are walls, aqueducts, rooms that are in a good condition. On the other hand, it is considered Patrimony of the Nation.
